The current trends in the health care
industry are very fascinating and some are new and some are not, but the ones that are not are getting more pronounced. And in particular, the cost of
health care delivery and the demand for health care in services are becoming
increasingly unsustainable. So what are the implications to folks that are trying to succeed in that industry of those macrodynamics and
primarily that is the proving of your capability and quality. Whether you’re a
hospital or a system or a physician or any other industry participant, you need
to prove your value proposition in a way that you never had to before. The other
really dramatic change that’s new in the health care industry is the advent of
private equity participants. Private equity participants are increasingly…and in Michigan this is a new trend… buying health care practices, physician
practices or even trying to own hospitals and control aspects of the health care delivery system that were not historically, at any point in the history of the industry, that were never influenced by private equity money people in the ownership position. Systems and physicians and all industry participants need to account for that level of activity that’s new as part of
their strategic thinking in order to stay one step ahead and we really are well positioned to help them with that.
