Real Estate Transaction

Real Estate Transaction

[intro music] What you need to know to avoid delays when
you come in to sign at the law office for your real estate transaction. Number one,
you’re gonna need ID. It’s gonna need to be picture ID, and probably one other piece of
ID. If you’re moving, make sure you don’t go to a registry and change your address because
they’re gonna take your ID away and give you a little certificate that specifically says,
“This is not ID.” Number two, you might need to bring in a void check. Someone will tell
you what you need to bring in, that might be one of ’em. Number three: You’re also going
to need to remember to bring in a bank draft or certified check if you’re signing papers
to buy a home. It’s not necessary if you’re selling, but we’ll definitely need it and
it can’t just be a regular check or a credit card. Number four: You gotta remember, if
you’re leaving town before your possession date, make sure you let your lawyer know.
So if you’re going on vacation or you’re just away on business, there are other things that
we can do in terms of getting you to sign the documents that we just need the heads
up so we can get it done on time, so you have a smooth transaction. Those are the things
you need to remember and keep in mind. [music out]
