Real Estate Agent Safety and Personal Security – Who do you trust for advice?

It upsets me, every time I see a headline
where another real estate agent has been hurt, robbed, raped, or murdered. But it makes me
angry when I see the advice that they’re being given from others in this business. Typical
advice says, “get this app,” “take this with you,” “this will save you,” “meet at the office
first,” take a gun,” “get pepper spray,” do all of these other kinds of things. And it’s
all nonsense! You’re still going to go out there and meet clients away from the office.
I know this and you know this too. Police get there after the crime has been committed,
not before. Your friend from the office is going to get there after something happens,
not before. Understand what it means to keep yourself and your family safe and your clients
safe. Stop listening to the people at the office. They don’t know what they don’t know.

  1. Scores of untrained, inexperienced, and unqualified agents have taken to the blogosphere to recommend this or that to keep you safe. None of them know what the hell they are talking about. Using a security app? Sometimes bad guys may not let you use your phone. Going to check their ID? Sometimes bad guys lie about who they are (among other things).
