Looks Matter Most


Hi, this is Karl Zarling, and today I’d like
to chat with you about some things you might expect from me along the way. Let’s start with possibly the most critical
thing, looks. My looks. For some of us, the most important thing to
consider with the person you’re entrusting to sell your home, possibly your most valuable
possession and investment, is how an agent looks. Or dresses. Maybe even the car they drive. In fact, maybe the best way to select a Realtor
is to visit one, or two web sites, and click on the picture of the agent that looks most
attractive to you. Don’t look up reviews and be bothered by all
those words! Who has time for that? Not me. Recently while meeting a prospect at one of
my home listings, this fellow approached and said, “Oh, okay…I was wondering which guy
would show up.” See, he’d seen various pictures of me on the
World Wide Web, and I looked somewhat different in each of them. So he was understandably confused, wondering
which Karl he’d encounter. So how might I appear? Well, just as you see me now, this is one
way. You may observe small personal grooming modifications,
lapses in trimming. Hair length. You might catch me on a day when personal
grooming is at a very high level, as is my dress. Note that this statistically is the least
likely Karl to be found in the wild. You may see me without glasses, or with them
on. Hey, do I look smarter now? I sure hope so. Now it’s most likely that our first encounter
will be over the internet, or via email, or text. I do type quickly, and most of my actual scheduling
is done via email. This helps me stay organized and on top of
things. Of course there’s no telling what I may look
like while I’m typing, or where I am, and it may even be from my phone. Today’s phones are capable of much more than
just allowing you to speak with someone far away. Many of you will prefer to communicate mostly
with text. While others will actually call me, to speak,
on my phone…just like in the olden days when telephones had wires running to them. Crazy, right? Hello? Now if you are actually working with me, it’s
likely that at some point we will talk on this cellular, or cell phone. And it works almost anywhere, like here, in
my car. See, I place these attachments in my ears,
so I can talk and safely drive and adhere to the rules of the road. I take this cell phone nearly everywhere and
can almost always be reached. Now of course, I do, believe it or not, have
a life outside of business and real estate. Like, take today, for instance, I’m out here
camping. Out in the woods. Look at that. Hmmn. So…that doesn’t mean that I didn’t do a
number of texts, and emails, and phone calls today…but still camping. So let’s recap what we’ve talked about today:
looks are everything, don’t bother yourself with those pesky agent reviews, I use multiple
forms of communication, and once in a while I do take time out to enjoy my life. Though my wife will attest that I’m really
always at work for my clients, behind the scenes. If you’d like to work with someone that’s
