– My name is Jason Boon. I’m the Director of Richardson & Wrench at Potts Point, Elizabeth Bay. Potts Point, Elizabeth Bay
is sort of in between say Bondi and the City. Richardson & Wrench has been
in Potts Point, Elizabeth Bay for probably 30 years. I’ve been here over 20. It’s been an area where a
lot of people have come in with money, bought a platform, and have actually done a lot of renovation. And you’ve seen the change
happen over the last 10 years. For me, marketing was walking the streets, dropping letterboxes, standing
out the front of buildings with keys pretending I had a listing and talking to all the owners
coming out in the morning. And then I’d just
transfer to three or four different buildings during the week. It was also, ‘just listed’,
‘just sold’, brochures, slips. All the original points of contact would be from the letterbox,
or from the street, or from a phone call. I’ve seen such a change in marketing. I now know my own website, my
own emails, my own stories, my own sort of softer approach
to knowing about the area. So I’ve become knowledgeable
about the public, the schools, the parks,
the people, the characters, the coffee shops, the energy of the place, what’s going on currently for the area. These sorts of things is what
not only sells your property, but allows you to be a good agent selling property in that area. I wanted to build a new website, because I wanted to
connect in a different way with the public. I went with Stepps and
partnered with Stepps because I’d seen what
they’d done in the past. There was a few marketing
companies that I was interviewing. But at the end of the day, I didn’t want it to be too complicated. I wanted one thing and done well. What Stepps has brought to me, is I’m stopped regularly by clients, and they suggest articles
that I can write, or they comment on
what’s just been written, or they say, “That line
about the so and so, “I’m so glad you wrote
about that cake lady.” Like it’s brought a connection
without me doing too much. (upbeat music)
