How to become a real estate broker in the State of Washington

This is Amy Adams with Windermere Bellevue Commons and today, I’d like to share with you about how to get your real estate license in the state of Washington. as i’m sure a lot of you already are aware it is a hot market out there and there are a lot of people who are interested in getting their license as a real estate broker. So I’m going to share with you know steps and how you can move forward to making that happen. So like anything there are some steps that need to happen before you can become a real estate broker and first and foremost you need to be at least 18 years old. If you are 18 years old and you have graduated from high school or have an equivalent, then you’re good to go but you do need to take at 90 hours of education that is offered through a couple of different formats one way you can get your education is through WindermereU, which is Windermere professional development. When you go to there’s information there about how you can study for your real estate exam. Another option is going to Rockwell Institute. That’s rockwellinstitute com. You can do it either online or in person so when you go to their website as well get more information about the 90 hours that you need to complete before you can get ready to go for your test To schedule your exam you need to go to Once you do that you’ll take the test and then you’ll need to apply for your license so on that same website there’s going to be some information that you need to complete and then you’ll need to get your fingerprinting done they’ll do a background check and after that you’re good to go into interviewing different offices such as Windermere Bellevue Common and deciding what’s a good fit for you.   4. I heard there is a 2 year waiting period after you complete the 90 hours that after the 2 years than you can apply for your license. Or is it WITHIN 2 years of completing the 90 hours?

I am currently getting mine in texas but now I need to move to seattle and need to know what to do. should I go ahead and get it for texas and then just find a broker to work with up there and take the continued ed courses for renewal in Washington? or do I need to take all the courses for Washington? fyi, the requirements for texas is 180 hours. just need to know. thank you.
