AUSTIN POLICE TELL US IT HAPPENED SATURDAY AT A SHORT TERM RENTAL.THE HOME IS ON EAST O’DELL — JUST OFF ST. JOHNS AVENUE.NEIGHBORS SAY THEY WERE WORRIED — WATCHING ALL THE COMMOTION.”THIS IS THE HIGHLAND NEIGHBORHOODWE GET SOME THINGS OVER THERE WE HAD A SWAT SITUATION DOWN THE STREET MAYBE A MONTH AGOBUT RAN MILLER SAYS RARELY DOES IT EVER REACH HIS BLOCK. THAT CLOSE THAT HAD EVERYBODY WORRIED AT FIRST, HE WASN’T REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT A PARTY AT THIS HOUSE…I THINK THEY’RE USING IT AS A SHORT-TERM RENTALGOING INTO THE EARLY MORNING HOURS…RAN MILLER/NEIGHBOR I WENT TO BED. SOMEWHERE 2:30ISH I HEARD SHOTS. I CALLED 911. THEN WE HEARD A LOUD COMMOTION PEOPLE SCREAMING AND YELLING RUNNING UP AND DOWN THE STREET. MY NEIGHBOR STARTED TEXTING ME HE HAD CALLED 911 AS WELL THERE WAS SOME FIGHTS THAT BROKE OUT PEOPLE, THEIR ADRENALINE WAS GOING PEOPLE WERE REALLY EXCITED HE SAW AUSTIN POLICE SHOW UP…AND USHER PEOPLE OUT. THEY ALL STARTED WALKING OUT ONE BY ONE WITH THEIR HANDS UP 57 THEY HAD THEM ALL BACKED UP AND THEN THEY SAT THEM DOWN ON THE SIDEWALK SOMEWHERE AFTER FOUR MAYBE 4:15 THEY SANG ONE OF THEM HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND THEN NOT LONG AFTER THAT EVERYBODY CLEARED OUT MILLER SAYS THIS IS A FIRST…AT THIS ADDRESS…WE’VE HAD NO PROBLEM FROM THEM EVER SO THAT WAS A BIT OF A SURPRISE IT WAS JUST CRAZYERIN:NO ONE WAS HOME TODAY WHEN WE KNOCKED ON THE DOOR, AND WE HAVEN’T HAD ANY LUCK FINDING THE OWNER.MILLER SAYS THE WOMAN WHO STAYS THERE SOME OF THE TIME FOUND OUT ABOUT IT — AND HAS BEEN EXTREMELY APOLOGETIC TO NEIGHBORS — EVEN GOING DOOR TO DOOR TELLING THEM SHE IS
